About the Role

We are looking for an HR Manager to build and own the people function at Sundram Tech Solutions. As our first dedicated HR hire, you will establish the systems, processes, and culture that allow us to scale from a small team to a high-performance remote engineering organization. You will own everything from talent acquisition and onboarding to performance reviews, team welfare, and compliance — making sure Sundram Tech is a place where exceptional talent thrives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a tech startup or software agency environment.
  • Strong understanding of Indian labour law, PF/ESIC compliance, and remote employment contracts.
  • Experience managing end-to-end recruitment: JD writing, sourcing, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
  • Comfortable designing and rolling out HR systems from scratch in a remote-first setup.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to communicate clearly across teams.
  • Proficiency with HR tools for payroll, documentation, and applicant tracking.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion when handling sensitive people matters.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle: source candidates, screen applications, coordinate interviews, and close offers.
  • Design and manage onboarding workflows that help new joiners integrate quickly into our remote team culture.
  • Set up and maintain performance review cycles, 1-on-1 frameworks, and feedback systems.
  • Create and enforce HR policies: leave management, remote work guidelines, code of conduct, and exit processes.
  • Manage payroll processing, contractor agreements, and statutory compliance (PF, TDS, ESIC).
  • Foster a positive remote team culture through engagement initiatives, team events, and recognition programs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for team member concerns and conflict resolution.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in a remote-first or distributed tech team environment.
  • Familiarity with managing freelancers, contractors, and international hires.
  • Experience building an employer brand on LinkedIn to attract top-tier tech talent.
